Pack Lighter For Summer Vacation - Women's 5 4 3 2 1 Plus 2 Rule

If you are planning  a one week Summer vacation there is a simple rule to help  keep your packing light. The 5 4 3 2 1 + 2 rule . Often we over pack and most of the time we hardly wear or use what we pack and most often end up paying even access baggage fees to the airlines, and we nor need it or want that extra charge.

But most importantly you also want to avoid over packing to avoid wrinkled clothes, that's the last thing you need to worry while on vacation. By following the 54321 + 2 rule  not only will you be travelling light and not striving with a heavy suitcase, you will feel comfortable in knowing exactly what you have in your suitcase and what to where when to what. Simple things go a long way.

  • 5 Tops
  • 4  Bottoms
  • 3 Accessories
  • 2 Pairs of Shoes
  • 1 swimsuit
  • 2 Essentials (Summer Dress and Flip Flops)

These rules are based on a one week vacation and on your travel destination. If you are planning on maybe taking a 7 day cruise, then in addition to the 54321  plus 2 rule, one additional wardrobe piece (cocktail dress) is suggested as well as an additional piece of accessory (heels) and  finally one additional swimsuit.
If you are planning on a longer vacation then it is suggested to apply the above rule and add maybe a one or 2  additional pieces to each category above and throw in your suitcase one or two additional summer dresses.
Happy Travels!
